Project #1: calendar booklet

Though I like doing little craft projects, I hardly give myself the time to start any, let alone finish them! So I decided to create a little calendar for myself that I plan my projects in. I discovered a while back that if I really want to do something (work out, take photographs, clean the house), I have to make time in my schedule.

So, I thought it would be fun to start by creating this schedule first! I came across some really cute DIY booklets using recycled material, made by Elsie over at A Beautiful Mess.
I made this booklet by folding a stack of A4 sheets in three equal parts. My schedule is for 2013 as well so I needed a lot of paper :) For the cover, I used a cutout piece from a paper bag I got when I bought a shirt at Post-Nerd in Bangkok. A lovely reminder of my holiday!

The monthly overviews are from a calendar website where they had a printer-friendly version of various calendars. I chose to have one blank page after each month to write down to-dos. I want to use this booklet for monthly bucket lists or things I need to pay attention to in a certain period.

Elsie used thick thread for stitching her booklet together. I only had sewing machine thread at hand so I used that. I can’t recommend it though, especially not when using so many sheets of paper.

On a positive note, I now have a booklet that I will be able to use for a long time to come! I think I will try this more often :D

Do you have DIY projects you can recommend?
